This afternoon went well, I thought. I managed to have a class with Luis and Erica that didn't leave me ready to kill someone or cry, and it went more quickly than I expected. I'm going to try to come up with as many activities as possible for them, so if something doesn't work out, I can just quit. I did lose Luis to the blocks for a bit, but I decided not to make an issue of it; and of course, there was some sticker-bribing. That's okay, I think - anything to make them pay attention.
After I finished and went back to the office, I looked around for Donald, since he's usually ready to leave before I am on Tuesday/Thursday. The principal had abducted him to teach him Korean, Joan said, and the rest of us laughed a bit about it. Joan told me I should go rescue him, but when I walked past the office he didn't look particularly desperate, so I figured I'd give it a few minutes. Instead, I took my camera and went to take a picture that I'd been meaning to get for a while.
Here it is:
The first time I saw this, I was understandably confused. But I guess ignoble laminating film would be a pain to work with. It's only this A3 size that has it, though. The regular A4 has a picture of a tiger in a jungle, which, while also slightly mind-boggling, is nowhere near the entertainment level of this one.
When I had finished taking my picture, I wandered into Tulip class with my camera to see what the all-day class was up to. Actually, I had seen Kim-teacher carrying a tray of fried rice in there, so I knew what was up. I started talking to some of the girls in my small pieces of Korean, which always gets them excited. They laugh and clap for me, "Siobhain-teacher, very good job!!" I sat down to talk to them, and they quizzed me on what words I knew in Korean. I knew most of what they asked me - tree, eye, sun, fried rice; except for 'face' which I can't for the life of me remember now. I got a bowl of rice and ate with them, and took some pictures, which they thought was funny. They like posing for pictures, and think it's even funnier to look at them afterwards. I played with editing some of them tonight.
Here's Emily and Annie, with the usual Asian pose. Cheese!
Here's a better shot of the boys, without Hannah. David is Emily's twin - have I mentioned that we have an amazing amount of twins at my school? Srsly - there are like 6 sets of them, and that's not an exaggeration. But David and Emily are my favorites I think.
The hearts in the background were entirely coincidental, but I thought they were funny - the kids always like to joke about who loves each other. It's usually a fair amount of "Siobhain-teacher, Donald-teacher, love!" or any other combination of two (or three) teachers, depending on how silly the kids are being. But I really want to caption this picture, "Gregory, David, love?"
Lastly, two pictures of Christina, one edited and one not. I'm not sure which one I like better. Christina is a sweet little girl, and she always reminds me of xtna, both in looks and attitude. She's very playful. Here, she was laughing about one of my responses to her questioning on my and Donald's non-relationship.
In other news, there's not much here. I measured my shirt last night, and got 41cm, but when I measured again later, I was only at 39 - but that's okay!! I'm almost done - with the stockinette tunic part anyway!! Soon I can switch needles and do the top part, and then the sleeves. I can't wait. I'm thinking of starting another project in the meantime though, just for some instant gratificatin - i can't decide if I wanna try the socks I've been considering for a while or do the presents for julie and bethany that I've been putting off... We'll see.
Now, I need to go plan my open class lesson, since I spent 4 hours napping this evening. Didn't mean to, and woke up with mogi bites and an allergically-swollen lip, but I guess that's my bad for sleeping with the window open. Probably should eat some dinner too. Maybe when I get done with that, I will let myself do some knitting or reading. I'm going to be up for another couple hours anyway, I guess.
I'm so beat right now, probably cause i just got home from tutoring jihyun a bit ago. Got free dinner out of it, though. She's opened up a lot, and I think things will go well. Her grandmother laughed at me a lot during dinner, but they said it was because she liked me. They were worried cause we had curry for dinner and it was very spicy - Koreans are always concerned that their food will be too spicy, in my experience. I explained that I liked spicy food, and that it was okay. Jihyun's mom is some sort of nutritionist, I think - she's very concerned with eating healthy. So we had curry, and spareribs, (and of course, kimchi) and then we have this thing that's good for your digestion - kind of like persian tahdig, but with hot water over it. It wasn't actually that bad. And then we had yuzu tea, which definitely takes some getting used to - It's sweet and sour and bitter all at the same time. I like Korean food much better when I'm not eating it at school...
I talked to Julie and Jon some tonight before I left- Jules wants me to move to DC, and Jon wants me to come visit when I come back thru there. DC doesn't sound bad, and it was a place I was thinking of going anyway, so we'll see. I'll have to take some time during the next few weeks and start looking for jobs/schools.
AND!! I finished an icon for the etsy shop. I still have some tweaks to do on it, and have to do the banner, but I should be able to finish those - hopefully this week. Though I am super-busy this week. -sigh- Oh well. I enjoy being busy. Kind of. Tho parts of me also misses coming home and passing out.
Speaking of passing out - it's that time for me.
It's not fair that three such beautiful people should be fiction. granted, the actors who play them are real, but it's the characters I really love.
I spent the afternoon finishing Season Three, and I really loved it, even though I'm still a Rose/Ten shipper. But who needed that? There was enough slash to drown in, what with the Master and dungeon-surviving!Jack and last but not least, "Regenerate!"/angst!Doctor. Martha was nice too, though I think it would be cool if she hooks up with Dr. Milligan later. I thought the comment the conversation about the TARDIS key perception field was funny - "Like someone you fancy who doesn't even know you exist!" and Jack's comment, "You too?" Although, to be fair, it's been mentioned enough times as a joke that it's very clear the Doctor does know. And Martha's been building her house of cards since the first episode and the genetic transfer, so even though I think she's awesome in her own right, I still don't get the Doctor/Martha shippers. It's just not there, at least for me.
Ahh. And now that I have finished that, I will let myself dl the next episode of Psych. God knows I have so many shows that people have recommended that I will never finish all of them. Even though it's sad, it's kinda a good thing that Torchwood and Who are taking a break, cause it gives me time to catch up. I go through spells of TV watching, so it takes me a while.
Also today I finished my second puzzle!! This one took me the same amount of time as Starry Night, despite that it was 500 pieces, not 300. But I think it was a bit easier, even though I loved it and had lots of fun. I'll post of pic of it later.
While looking for pics of the puzzle on the internet, I discovered the Art Renewal Center. They seem a bit forceful in their views, but the important thing is that they have high-res images of lots of pre-Modernism paintings. And since I love pr-Modernist art, I really loved browsing through their stuff. I found some awesome stuff, and a new artist to love.
All these new pictures (and some of my old ones that I have been editing lately make me want to change my blog to make it more personalized, so I might start making banners or something. Or just do image editing. In all my free time, when I'm not doing other stuff, you know. Haha.
I'm off to the store for food and then to cook dinner, listen to an audiobook version of Twilight, and knit Tim's scarf. Fun times.
The new pics, which will not be all up at once, will be in my library, each in their own collections. Right now I'm working on Amsa Field Trip
