Here's one of my favorite digs at Twilight:

Also, what kind of peanut butter do you like? Crunchy or smooth? Any brand preference?
Yeah that is pretty funny, if entirely inaccurate about the fan base of the books. However, the LJ post further down about the LDS propaganda is ridiculously amusing, and written by both a former mormon and someone who has read the books.

I like either smooth or crunchy, tho I prefer the latter. also it occurs to me that, less than a week before xmas, your present will be late. should i still send it to your house?
Really? What is the fanbase then?
Better question - why are you up so late?

The fanbase is pretty wide, actually. Mostly women, granted, but of all ages and backgrounds. Even a few of us who realize how horrible they are and read them anyway.
But I would imagine that a pretty sizable chunk of the fanbase is teenage girls. And am I to understand that you identify yourself as part of the Twilight fandom?

And it wasn't that late when I posted those comments. Like 1:30 or 2.
I guess it depends on how you define 'fandom'. I've read the books. I recognize they are horrible, horrible things, but I still read them. I don't read fic for them, mostly cause the characters are bad enough, and the fandom new enough, that there are most likely loads of ridiculously plotless and OOC pieces that I would have to wade through. And let's face it, most of the people who would write good fanfic about this series are a) better writers than the author and b) cognizant of exactly how bad the books are and how little they deserve the devotion that fanfic requires.
